Eastern Maryland or Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Circa 1790. Mahogany Chippendale game table.  Poplar secondary with oak gate.  Tapered leg ending in short spade feet.  Nice molding around base of apron.  Top has a wonderfully molded edge.  Original hinges on top.  Dovetailed drawer with molded edge and original glue blocks.  Replaced bail pulls. Very nice old surface.

Height: 29.5"; Width: 36"(top), 34"(case); Depth: 18"(closed), 36"(open).

 

 

 


Eastern North Carolina Candlestand 

New Bern, North Carolina. Circa 1790.  Mahogany.  Round top with beautifully turned urn-vase shaft. Graceful Queen Anne legs terminating in fabulous pad feet.  Oak block.  Original iron spider.  Great color and finish.  For a related table, see John Bivins, The Furniture of Coastal North Carolina 1700-1820; page 394, table 7.15.

Charles City , Virginia .  Circa 1820.  Yellow pine washstand with bowl opening and top gallery with lower shelf.  Mortise and tenon construction, square legs. Original black paint with great wear. Gallery attached with square nails. Provenance available to new owner.

Virginia.  Circa 1820.  Yellow pine country Hepplewhite work stand.  Mortise and tenon construction, nice tapered legs, base with original black paint. 2 board mortise and tenon scrub top attached with square nails.

North Carolina. Circa 1810.  Walnut.  Rectangular top with nicely rounded corners.  Great legs with wonderful turned vase shaft.
