Virginia Land Grant Document
Land grant with state seal, on vellum, signed by the Governor of Virginia, Beverley Randolph, June 26, 1789. Grant is for 250 acres to John Roussau in Hampshire County, now West Virginia.
Randolph served in the militia during the Revolutionary War, was a member of the Virginia Assembly and was a member of the state's House of Delegates from 1777 to 1780. In 1788, he was elected the 8th Governor in Virginia history; the first to be elected after Virginia ratified the U.S. Constitution.
